THE ESTATE
Built in 1760, Podere Ortone was restored in the early 1970's and has been significantly upgraded from 2012.
We have over 180 olive trees on the estate. In 2013, our olive oil was awarded a silver prize in Casole d'Elsa's annual olive oil competition where there were 81 entries. Guests are welcome to stroll around the olive grove and woods.
There is parking for at least five cars.
THE MAIN HOUSE
GROUND FLOOR: a hall, a formal living room with fireplace, a dining room, and a kitchen with utility area.
MEZZANINE FLOOR: a small vestibule, a WC & shower and a double bedroom.
FIRST FLOOR: a master suite which consists of a double bedroom, an open bathroom with fireplace and an en suite with WC & shower. A second double bedroom includes an en suite with WC & shower. There is also a TV room/library.
THE APARTMENT
The apartment is attached to the main house and is accessed externally. It consists of a double bedroom, a twin (or double) bedroom, a bathroom with WC and upright shower in the bath, a living room and a kitchen.
The apartment is not available for separate rental.
SWIMMING POOL
The 10m by 5m, eco-friendly, solar-heated pool is located on the lower terrace and has both a deep end and shallow end which can be accessed via a ladder. There is a swimming pool cover to retain heat. Throughout the day guests can enjoy either sunny or shady areas on the pool terrace. The views from the pool terrace are to the hills and mountains to the south and west. The pool is unfenced.
The pool is available from May until September but can be opened out of season upon request.
THE LOGGIA
Just a few metres from the main house, the loggia serves as an outdoor dining area and living room.
It is furnished with a combination of traditional and modern furniture. The large dining table sits 10 guests when extended.
There is a wine refrigerator and the BBQ is stored here.
New for 2022, the pizza oven has been restored.
THE GYM
The cantina has recently been refurbished as a gym which includes an exercise bike, a running machine and cross trainer

Please note that there is a narrow, external set of steps on one side of the house which leads down to the apartment & pool area, a partially open staircase in the house, a sloped, grassy bank to the olive grove and a steep drop from the upper lawn to the pump house which will require supervision of very young children in these areas.
